A Marriage Celebrant Code of Practice applies to all marriage celebrants registered by the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department.
My status as a Justice of the Peace, appointed by the State government of New South Wales, enables me to act as a Justice of the Peace under the Justices of the Peace Act 2002, this allows activity of primarily:
- administering oath declarations or affidavits, and taking statutory declarations and affirmations principally under the Oaths Act 1900;
- witnessing signatures; and
- attesting and certifying documents.
The Code of Conduct establishes acceptable standards of conduct for JPs in NSW.
I have a Diploma in Advanced Public Speaking and Master of Ceremonies for Celebrants
(DipCPS) gained from the Academy of Celebrancy Australia.
